Dance Open America Emerging Choreographer Round aims to assist emerging young choreographers.
D.O.A. directors have decided to create a competition to identify, highlight and assist choreographic talents during its 2021 season by giving them a platform to show and present their work.
The D.O.A. Emerging Choreographer Round has one primary objective: to help attract and promote aspiring choreographers who did not dare try their luck until now. This round will be judge independently (choreographic work only) from the rest of the competition.

Rules and Regulations for Choreographers:
Entry Fee: $150 (This includes your $75 Reg Fee)
-Candidates must be at least 18 years old and/or considered the age of majority in their country of origin or to have a guardian (parent) permit.
-We accept all choreographic work including digital work. (it does NOT have to be specifically created for the competition, choreographers are encouraged to use previous work)

-Digital work
-Theatre/Studio work
Please note: Digital work will be evaluated SEPARATELY from Theatre/studio work. Both categories will be scored under the same evaluation process described below.
-Entry forms must be completed as standard in our Registration page HERE Participation in the competition constitutes full acceptance of D.O.A terms & conditions/rules; non-compliance by a candidate shall result in his/her immediate disqualification.
-The competition is only open to emerging choreographers.
-An individual/choreographer can enter as part of any number of different groups, solos or duets.
-The choreography can be done bare feet, pointe or demi-pointe and can be created in any style (Classical, Neoclassical or Contemporary)
PRICE / TIME LIMIT / MUSIC
-The fee to enter the competition is $150 US dollars payable at the time of registration. This fee includes:
Fifteen (15) minutes of choreography, within this 15 minutes you are welcome to present as many pieces as you want, for example, you could present 3 different choreographic works of 5 minutes each.
-The choreographer has the responsibility to obtain the rights of the music used (if needed). D.O.A does do not pay music royalties.
-Direct feedback from judges/choreographer/s panel.
-Access to all Master Classes.
-All links for LIVE streaming including D.O.A Final Gala & Awards Ceremony.
DRESS CODE / COSTUMES
-Competitors should be properly attired. Guidance for how to dress can be found in our Rules & Regulations page.
-We do not ask for professional costumes, thus we ask for a clear view of the execution of the choreography.
